All Windows operating systems running on any computer, including a Toshiba laptop, have a special boot mode called Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, Windows boots without any unnecessary drivers and software so you can troubleshoot the operating system and detect and remove viruses. Booting into Safe Mode is done with the keyboard, but you need to restart the laptop first.
1
Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left corner of the screen and then click the "Shut Down" button.
2
Press the "Power" button to turn on the Toshiba laptop.
3
Press the "F8" key several times while the laptop boots, until you see the Windows Advanced Options screen.
4
Use the cursor keys to navigate, pressing "Up" or "Down" to select the Safe Mode option. If you want to access the Internet in Safe Mode, select the "Safe Mode with Networking" option.
5
Press "Enter" to boot into Safe Mode.
